The computer has a video card with an HDMI, DVI and Displayport output, each can power a monitor. The motherboard has a DVI output that can power a 4th monitor. So the computer can power a total of four monitors. DVI and Displayport can be converted to HDMI with an adapter, or cross converted to whatever modern display you use. You shouldn't see a slowing in performance unless you are doing complicated graphics across all four monitors, I assume.
