I purchased a removable hard drive and the Geek Squad support team transferred all of my documents and photos to that for me. when my 7 year old laptop died. I then purchased a new laptop and they loaded all of data to that, using the removable drive. It was easy but it is a multi-visit process because you need to have an appointment for each step (except buying the your new device). Good luck with your transfer.
