• Yes you can transfer data from the Windows 7 computer to a new computer. You have to disassemble the Windows 7 computer and remove the hard drive. Then with a USB cradle for the hard drive you attach the hard drive to a USB port on the new computer. Since the old hard drive is now like drive D; and does not run the OS, you can recover the data from that drive with out using by examining with 'file explorer' on drive D;
