This monitor may be overkill for this generation of consoles. I do not have a PS4 because I prefer a Xbox but I assume they are closely related in the rumored hardware and graphic specs. If the specifications that are rumored are true for the next generation consoles then this monitor will be able to handle it. It has 165 Hz (unless overclocked in the menus it is 144), a TN panel, and a 1 millisecond response time. I am unsure about the next generation PlayStation but the next generation Xbox is claiming to have around 120 frames per second so 144 Hz is will be able to handle that and more. The TN panel will allow for a quick pixel refresh rate so it is be great for handling fast paced high FPS games. The only aspect of where this monitor will underperform is the resolution. The next generation consoles are claiming to be able to produce very high resolutions but at this price the resolution is amazing. To go any higher would cost a lot of money. I bought this monitor for the specific reason to use it for the next generation consoles as well as this one because it is able to handle both. Hope it helps.
