These are plastic, and generally the Inspiron 3000 series are somewhat flimsy. If you travel a lot, you may want to consider a hard sided case, or one of their business-oriented laptops like the Latitude (also plastic but pretty solid, no issues with mine so far) or Precision (very robust but pricey). We have had several “public era” Inspirons and they have always been very flimsy. I’m told these are not much better. Having said that, I did just order one for my wife because she will be using it on the desk most of the time and occasionally on her lap or coffee table, but always at home. If she needed to take it with her, I would have spent more.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Inspirons tend to be made with less rigid plastic construction than even their plastic Latitude counterparts. A hard-sided attaché would be recommended for frequent travelling, and if you plan on making any upgrades, get everything you need to get in and out once. Too many openings and the plastic chassis clips are likely going to break.
