Can I add a second hard drive? null

I would suggest an external USB Solid State NVMe drive. The Western Digital NVMe drives are very fast. I copied 1.2 Terra Bytes of data in 2 hours. On any other USB drive it would take over 15 hours. You have to make sure your USB cables are fast however. They must be rated at 5 to 10 Gbps.

There is room for a plug in, not sure if it could be used for a hard drive.

No, this system supports only one SSD up to 2 TB.
