All Your questions can be answered by the Geek Squad, and you will find that mounting your older programs can be transferred at the time you purchase your new unit.

I bought a Dell Inspiron with a really heavy tower in Nov. of 2009 with windows 7 on it (which I loved) and refused to upgrade it to windows 10 (Fear of the unknown using windows 7 for 10 years). Geek Squad at Best Buy figured the mother board went south and could still transfer most of my info onto the new one. There is a charge for this service. If you have saved emails or anything you really can't afford to lose, copy it to a flash drive just to be on the safe side. I didn't and lost a lot of emails that I had saved in archive folders. Also had a few problems with my email addresses transferring over. I have a Geek Squad membership that includes 1 yr of Webroot security and they fixed the email address problem that I never would have been able to figure out on Windows 10. You do have to take your tower to Best Buy for the Geek Squad to transfer your info to the new computer.
