No internal speakers in the Dell tower. You'll need either external speakers or a monitor with built-in speakers (and a DisplayPort or HDMI connector). The DVD drive should be able to play DVD movies (I've played music CDs with it). Don't think it has DVD video recording/editing software included, but you should be able to play DVD movies with the pre-installed software.
