Dell - Inspiron 3020 Desktop - 13th Gen Intel Core i5 - 8GB Memory - Intel UHD Graphics 730 - 512GB SSD - Mist Blue

Found my years old Dell tower that I had purchased refurbished from a recycling store in Holland, MI before moving to Missouri was on it's last leg moving very slowly among other operational issues. Headed to the Best Buy store locally in Branson, MO and found out that there was nothing they could do for me. "Just happened" to have the Dell Inspiron Deskop on sale along with an Acer monitor. It could have not come at a better time. Bonus to save money! Best Buy is the Best Buy!

After several months of use, I have no complaints! It's more than adequate for most uses including some video editing. I'm very happy I was able to install even some old programs on it. I am needing to upgrade the memory to do video editing, but I never expected it to be adequate for that. If you want to edit video or gaming, you probably want a faster machine. I'm hoping the memory upgrade will make it workable for me.

Good computer for the price (even has optical drive which is good because we still use audio CDs.) This replaced a 7 year old Dell. It was easy to set up, download drivers, and we were back up and running. Also, if you have OneDrive and sign in, it does all the work…even grabbed the browser favorites and put on the computer for us, which was a pleasant surprise.

Great computer very fast and easy to use and windows 11 is also easy to use.

First impression: My first impression was the packaging. I’m an IT engineer and use Dell a lot. All their commercial computers are packaged very well, and their residential line is no different. After opening the box, the first thing you see is a cardboard tray holding the keyboard, mouse, and power cord. Under that is the computer securely packaged and protected by large foam pieces. The computer is a mid-sized desktop with an attractive front. And I was shocked to see a DVD player (actually a writer). I haven’t used one in years, but looking at the target consumer, it makes since. And I was very happy to see built in support for both HDMI and DP monitor cables. Specifications: The specifications are good for a mid-level, general purpose. My computer arrived with the following: • Intel 13th Generation 4.6 GHz Core i5 13400 • 500GB NVMe drive. • 8GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM • Intel UHD Graphics 730 graphics card • Dell generic Keyboard and mouse combo. Setup: Setup was just like any Windows 11 setup; I simply followed the Windows 11 initial setup wizard and connected it with my Microsoft account. It came with Windows 11 22H2 already installed, which is nice. It had the typical 50+ updates that needed to be done, and that took about 20 minutes. This was running over a Wi-Fi 5 network. Performance: The performance of the Dell Inspiron 3020 is as expected with the specs of this computer. I ran a bunch of benchmark tests, and the numbers weren’t great. I decided not to show the screenshots because I thought it might unfairly represent the computer. We have to remember that benchmarks are really for performance computers, and this is not a performance computer. But then again, it never claims to be one either. It is a really good general-purpose computer. I found the response of the computer relatively fast, much faster than my Dell business laptop loaded with agents. Opening documents is fast, as are opening programs, most likely because of the SSD. Business programs operate at a good speed. The included keyboard and mouse are pretty good, especially the keyboard. I am a 2-finger typist, and the larger keys make it easier for me to type. The mouse is no frills but does everything it is supposed to. Conclusion: I am really impressed with this computer. It’s a really nice computer for a really good price. The performance is really good for a general-purpose computer, it has an attractive mid-sized case, and comes with a DVD writer, which some people might still need. For myself, I am running SDR receiver software on it and it is doing an excellent job. If you need a good general-purpose computer or a family computer, and don’t need gaming-level performance, then I highly recommend the Dell Inspiron 3020 computer.
