QuestionI sent this laptop to my friend oversea. He said that the SSD is missing. He opened the bottom cover and showed me. The rectangular pit for SSD was covered with a plastic sheet on which some small screws were stuck. Will I receive the SSD separately?

- Answer S mode, is a version of windows that restricts the user from downloading anything from the internet. But, you can install apps / games from the microsoft store. If you would like to disable it, it is very easy. Just enter the Microsoft store and search: Switch out of S mode. Click "Get" and there you go! Now it works like any other Windows Computer. Enjoy!

- Answer Technically, you can remove the battery, but it is inside the box. Dell has a service guide on the Inspiron 3501 that gives detailed instructions on how to remove and install the battery. I would read that before deciding if you want to do it yourself. A service tech could certainly do it for you.

- Answer This model was first introduced / released on 08-September-2020. Usually, this model is covered under warranty for the initial 1 year and could be extended till 4th or 5th year. However, the software and the driver would be available for a long time.

- Answer No - Microsoft doesn't pre-load MS Word (or Office) on any new computers anymore. I also think that they don't even give us the free 90-day trial that they did years ago. You will have to purchase Word separately for approx $79 or subscribe to MS 365 (formerly Office) for about $99 a YEAR if you want Word and Excel, Power Point, etc. Shop around because some "after market" retailers have better deals than the MS Store.
