• The speaker's audio is supplied by ether the stereo 1/8" jack or the if you use the HDMI port. If you don't connect any audio they will not be connected. If you do not plan on using the speakers, you could buy a very similar monitor without the speakers, like the Dell S2316M. This Monitor is 23" instead of 23.8" and has no HDMI port. Video specs are very much the same.

• Just don't hook them up. As a matter of fact, the monitor doesn't even come with the cord to hook up the speakers. They assume you already have your own. Just in case they have speakers in the monitor.

• Yes. Through the playback devices tab when you right click the speaker on the bottom righ of your screen on windows, and simply disabling the monitor speakers.

• You can't disconnect them, however, you can go to your playback settings and turn them off.
