• This monitor has an HDMI port which does allow it to be used not only as a monitor, but also as a TV.

• Yes. You'll need external speakers as this monitor doesn't have them built in, but the HDMI sound should go through perfectly. (I don't use the internal sound so I can't say for certain)

• The monitor has HDMI and an old style analog VGA connector. That's it, only 2 video inputs. You can have them both hooked up but you'll need to turn off auto select (easy to do in the menu).

• Yes. You also have the option of using VGA so you could potentially use HDMI when you want to watch Direct TV and VGA when browsing the web or doing other tasks. Hope this helped.
