while I have not purchased this monitor the small amount of research I've done states that the inputs are HDMI only, however in the case of the Freesync AMD has worked in collaboration with monitor manufacturers recently to make freesync to be available to the HDMI users. Finally as freesync and gsync are not actually connections to a monitor HDMI can'y really be better than either of the two as freesync (AMD) and gsync (NVIDIA) are a technology in the graphics card and the monitor to be an alternative in gaming to V-sync which at times causes tears in game play. so if your plan is not playing video games on this monitor then it doesn't matter.
