“I am trying to connect this monitor to a Surface Pro 6. I used the USB cable that came with the monitor and plugged it into my Surface Pro dock. I plugged the other end into the monitor. The Surface Pro does not recognize the monitor. What's wrong?”

Check to see if the monitor is set to recognize Display port in the monitor settings. You can also designate HDMI vs Autodetect, if the latter is selected.
