“OK. I just bought this receiver. I only want to play my flash drive music, music on my phone and my iPod. Can someone explain to me why I have to have a TV involved at all? Is there any way to play music without a TV??”

My tv has the Pic off. So you gotta manual turn the picture off and keep tv on. Good luck
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Short answer NO ! I had the same problem. In the old days you plugged in your receive, hooked up the speakers and played music. I had to replace my old TV with a flat screen in order to "open the receiver" to play music. If you have a flat screen TV you can move it over just to set up the receiver. Note: you can elect to skip all of the steps and not test each speaker, the tones etc. If you choose to skip all the stems it will take 15 seconds to "Open" the receiver. bp
