You might want to make sure that there is good ventilation (airflow) around the unit. I had an older Denon that developed that same problem and I was told I should just replace it. I purchased this same unit AVRS540BT. I hope I don't have your same problem.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would add that this tendency to revert to protective / standby mode seems to be endemic with receivers in this category. I have an Onkyo A/V amp of approximately the same level and it does precisely the same thing, and after sending it twice for repairs (once under warranty, once on my dime), and after changing all the tiny electrolytic capacitors myself, it still does it. I think it is a heat issue. More hdmi inputs being utilized, more heat. Stacking components on top of one another, more heat.
