Hello. Yes- with the AVR-S970H, you can use two sub-woofers in the Main Zone with it's two sub-woofer outputs..

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.From what I have read in the manual, the unit can support 2 subwoofers. The unit is capable of 7.2 and 5.2 operation. The unit can also be configured for a second zone that uses the 2 rear channels. This then allows zone 1 with up to 5 main speakers plus zone 2 with 2 main speakers. The 2 zones can be powered and controlled separately but I am not sure if a subwoofer can be assigned to Zone 2. I operate my system with a 5.1 Main Zone and Zone 2 drives 2 speakers in another room. I only have 1 subwoofer. Denon provides an excellent on-line manual that bwill answer your questions.
