Hello, using an AV receiver as a multi-zone amplifier ONLY is possible but not recommended. The primary function of an AV receiver is surround sound playback with added multi-zone features. It can be done but may present limitations. Consider Denon HEOS speakers. Denon HEOS speakers will give you control and flexibility when paired with a HEOS-equipped AV receiver using the HEOS app, provided a good wireless network is in place. The Denon AVR-X4500H has HEOS built-in. Another possibility is connecting an external amplifier to the receiver's zone 2 pre outputs. This may be preferred if in-wall volume controls and in-ceiling speakers are already in place. An In-home consultation is available to you.
