• The one I ordered from Best Buy myself was well within the range of serial numbers that include the May 2021 fixes. If you get one from before that, you could always just return it and order another.

• Hello and thank you for your question and interest in our product. The original release of 8K receivers will require an external HDMI 2.1 box. This is provided at no charge. All new receivers have been updated with the 8K 2.1 chip and do not require the external box.
