Hello, Yes - the AVR-X3700H is a two zone receiver. This means you can have the Main Zone speakers independent from the dining room and the patio. The supplied remote control can switch between the Main Zone and Zone 2. Zone 2 has it's own volume control and you can select it's own source to hear. If you wish to run all the speakers at the same time in the main room and the dining room/patio, the best way to do this is to add a power amplifier to the Zone 2 pre-out (on the rear panel). From there it is a good idea to use a speaker-switching box (this allows you to turn off either the dining room or the patio should you wish to do so). Adding wall-mounted volume dials is wise too, as the supplied receiver remote will only work with line of sight (infra-red).
