NO, mine doesn't. You may need to empty dust compartment

Not that I am aware of. I used this model vacuum cleaner for about that length of time more than once with no problem.

I used mine for several minutes at a time within the first few weeks, never noticed it got hot. I am not sure how close to your time frame I got, but my old vacuum put off some heat after a while, I could even smell it...no issue with this one.
