• Hi there, it uses DJI's enhanced WiFi technology. It's no need to connect your phone to the Internet for flying the drone.

• I’m not sure if this answers your question or not, but you do not need to be connected to WiFi on your phone to use the drone. I’ve taken mine out a few times where I had no cell service at all and didn’t have any problems taking off, flying, using the return to home option or landing! Hope this helps!
