Hello Desertracer173. The tablet will need wifi. Do ensure he's using a phone or tablet that is on our approved list which you'll find under 'App/Live View' at https://www.dji.com/phantom-3-standard/info#specs. Just for your own interest, you may find the Phantom 3 Standard user manual helpful at https://dl.djicdn.com/downloads/phantom_3_standard/en/Phantom_3_Standard_User_Manual_v1.4_en_0112.pdf. Our YouTube channel also has informative videos at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8-vxWY64sBMWJEBFEM6Jc_nLk0zfyPtS. If your relative continues to experience issues, don't hesitate to reach out to our support team via phone or live online chat. Contact details are at http://www.dji.com/support. Thanks.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No out don't but the device you use must have WiFi. Just down load the app. Very easy to use.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Drone has "WIFI" built into it. You connect to the phantom's WIFI and that's all you should need. Phantom on, then controller, then open the app on your phone. If you have to calibrate the compass follow the directions CAREFULLY on the 2nd screen as it's confusing and slightly counter intuitive. If you have to sync the controller to the drone you'll need a pen or a paper clip to push a button on the drone near the batter pack on the underside of one of the arms. Cheers and happy flying
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You have to connect the tablet to the controller via wifi to view any extra controls. You can operate the drone without using a device but you can not view the camera, take pictures, change modes, etc. You can only connect to one wireless signal at a time. Turn the controller on and wait 20 seconds or so and connect to the "phantom...." wifi signal and while that is connecting place the drone on a level surface and turn it on. By now your device should be connected to the controller wifi. Open the DJI go app and it should show your drone and then click on the camera button. You should see what the drone sees now and be able to change flight modes. I would recommend going on youtube and watching a set up video for the phantom 3 standard.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. He must connect to the wifi on the controller from his phone. If he is using a tablet the tablet MUST have GPS otherwise it will not operate properly or operate at all.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.
