“Is this what I need to send sound from my HD tv to my stereo receiver? I have been unable to get my stereo to recognize the tv sound just by using the audio output, which works fine sending sound to a pair of headsets, but when input to stereo using rca cable, I get nothing. The tv has a optical audio output, and my receiver has a digital input optical. Will this work? Anyone had this same scenario?”

• Your rca outputs are not “line level” you probably don’t want to connect those to your stereo. Just hook up the optical cable and go into the tv menus to enable output to it. That’s all I needed to do on my Visio.
