The adapter has mic in and audio out. The two can be used concurrently (aka a headset with a mic for doing Skype or making phone calls on a Smartphone). If you want to hear your voice through the headset, that will depend on the application you are using. e.g. (You may be able to set up Audacity for Android for playthrough to do this but most music apps on smartphones just play back the recorded Audio. Check out your music software. Search PlayStore (Android) for Karaoke apps to find ones that have mic support and let you use your own music files.
