Unfortunately, no. I purchased this splitter with the same intention, since I wanted to use it for a microphone I had purchased and my laptop has a "combined" port that doesn't handle mics. I found out on receiving the splitter that it is an output splitter only, so it plugs into the 3.5mm jack and allows for two headphones, earbuds, speakers, or audio output devices to be plugged into one source. It does not handle input, so it will not split mic and audio. Sorry :(
