Attach the two vertical brackets to your TV. Then temporarily install the wall plate onto the brackets on your TV. Then measure the distance from the top of the TV to the holes in the wall plate. This will tell you the distance from the ceiling where you need to drill. However, I would move the mount down about 1-2 inches since the TV will need some clearance from the ceiling in order to engage the upper hooks on the brackets.
