• I would use an outdoor ceiling fan for a covered patio space.

• Hello Jl, this is Kelly with Dyson. While you could use your Dyson AM09 Fan + Heater on a covered patio, we would only recommend doing so if the machine can be plugged directly in to an outlet, without the use of an extension cord or power strip, and that it's completely protected from the weather elements. In terms of the amount of heat provided, the AM09 will heat a 400 sq ft room or space. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support
