YES! I own both (I have a v11 and on my second animal) the animal is significantly stronger than the cordless versions. it's great having a cordless one for daily messes, especially on hardwood or rugs ... on carpet, especially thicker/shaggier ones, the animal will prove to be much more effective. it's nice having the convenience of a cordless vac, but the animal's cord length is long enough I've never had any issues, even using it in my kitchen/family room area that is open concept. only need to use one outlet. if it's a very larger room or furniture gets in the way, you might need to use another outlet but the payoff is worth plugging the minimal effort it takes to plug something in! overall, I've found a animal is better value for the money. it's a pain to do my steps (hence why I got the cordless) but for a deep clean, I'll bring out the animal every 2-3 months to do my stairs even.

Weight plays a big factor, as heavier full size vacuums help press the head and "beater bar" against the floor, ensuring better sealing for better suction, as well as better agitation of the carpet for better dirt extraction.
