It personally never happened to me but if it had it's rather easy to remove the roller without the use of any tools. It's pretty straight forward. If you put the vacuum backwards laying it on its handle you simply pull the two clear tab's on the back side of the roller encashment Which dislocates the roller. If you want to take it a step further it's probably better to remove the head of roller by locating a plastic c-clip on the neck of the vacuum right where the vacuum pivits and just clean the whole thing. It takes about 10 seconds to remove the head. When reinstalling it remember you can put the red c- clip on the removed part before putting it back together, it will snap back on without messing with it later.
