There is a mattress vacuuming attachment in the big kit that comes with this model, and I have been amazed at how well this thing pulls in and holds ultra fine dust particles from floors, furniture, walls, lampshades, wood trim, etc. There are instructions on how to pull the center from the canister and clean the canister. I have moved to dumping the canister contents outside into a garbage can, so that all the dust doesn't float around my house. You can easily "pop" out the center filter of the canister and dust it off with a dust cloth after you drop the dirt from the canister (again, while outside with a trash can). Wet washing is an option, but they instruct you to never suck up water into the canister, so I would be very careful with wet cleaning, too. Bottom line, this thing will hold more dust than any other hepa vacuum I have owned. BUT since it is successfully FULL of fine dust, you need to dump and wipe down the canister outside of your home if you are trying to control fine particles, dander, etc. I have a severe asthmatic in my home; this vacuum and a quality air filter have made an enormous difference.
