It automatically detects the carpet/ floor type and adjusts the suction as it sees fit. It works pretty well. Theres 2 buttons one is to turn off the brush roll completely and the other is the power. I hope this helps you

I wasn't able to locate the video you are referring to, however I can confirm that on all Dyson upright vacuums, there is not a way to switch suction power.
