No. While you can run the unit like a fan by increasing the airflow number it shouldn't be used as a fan. When you do the filter life is shortened since it's constantly filtering. Place the unit on Auto and the filters will last a long time (up to a year, depending on how dirty the air is around it), and only come on when it senses air quality is worse than "good". The fast fan-like airflow is if you have something like a cooking smell or allergy event in your area to keep filtering continuously to get air quality back to "good" much faster. Hope that helps.
