“I recently bought the V10 Animal hand held, and my son noticed what looks like cracks in the housing. Is this a defect or design?”

If subjected to extremely rough handling (dropping on concrete, falling, throwing, they can crack or break, but overall the V10 is very durable. There are 5 of us that use our Dyson and we have never had a problem with cracks or breaks. I would contact Dyson directly.

What you have described may be flow lines which are created as a result of the injection molding process when the machine is manufactured.
