“will HPO4 add heat to the air (i.e. how hot can it get) also is it safe on carpets or does it need a flat base like tile or wood flooring? Thanks”

Hello RH, this is Kelly with Dyson. The HP04 Pure Hot + Cool purifier is a 3-in-1 machine: it will heat, purify and cool your home air. In heat mode, you can select from 1-10 airflow speeds and set the temperature up to 99 degrees. You can place the machine on carpeting, as long as it's a stable surface. Your machine will also auto-shutoff, if it's knocked over, or after 9 hours of continuous use in heat mode. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support

Yes is add heat to the air. It have a front vent and rear vent. The heater function going up to 99 degree now and you can place the Dyson on any surface.
