Hello Marc, This is Miella from Dyson. The Dyson HP04 Pure Hot+Cool purifier can work in any sized room. The time it takes to bring the machine to the target heat temperature depends on environmental factors such as ventilation, current temperature, layout, etc. Hope this helps! I purchased 2 of these units 1 for my bedroom, the other for my living room for a 800 square foot apartment. When the rain hit March 12 2021 I turned both of them on at 85 degrees around 9:00 pm, by 11:00 pm it felt like a 100 degree sauna in here. I turned them both down to 70. The units will adjust to a comfort temperature and turn off. Once the rooms reaches a cool temperature, it will turn the heat back on to 70 or whichever temperature you set it for. Which is great
