• It can stand on its own but it should be standing plugged into its wall mounted battery charger.

• Hi Tiffy, this is Kelly with Dyson. The Omni-glide cord-free vacuum won't lock into a standing position. These machines do include a docking station which you can wall mount, for both storage and charging. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support
