• Hello Tong, this is Kelly with Dyson. Great question, but no. To ensure hygienic humidification, we have an airmesh evaporator with our unique technology column in the tank. Inside this column is our PTFE tube which reflects 95% of UV-C light. As water passes through this tube, the UV-C light emitted kills 99.9% of bacteria in the water. • The way the unit is constructed, I don't think the minerals from hard water will get into the air. Also, the instructions imply that any water born minerals will collect in the machine since they emphasize the need to do periodic cleaning to remove mineral buildup and they provide citric acid to help in dissolving and removing the mineral buildup.
