When my unit was working (before it broke) I had similar issues. I set the Dyson for 40 percent RH. The humidity would cycle on and off and used water. I had two other humidity sensors in the area and they never got above 36 percent RH. The Dyson though that it reached the set level. I suspect that there is a calibration issue.

The machine can reach 70% humidity, but getting to this target depends on environmental conditions like the size and ventilation of the room, and the relative humidity of the surrounding air. Even when the machine is working properly, it can naturally be harder to reach a target humidity if the air is relatively dry to begin with, if it’s an “open” environment where non-humidified air is flowing in, etc. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support
