Hi Bob, this is Kelly with Dyson. In diffused mode, the airflow coming out of the amplifier loop is more spread out or diffused within the room. This mode would be ideal if trying to cool or purify the air in a whole room. For a single user, you can use focused mode, to keep the airflow more tight or concentrated in one spot.
