• A:Answer I would not use the Dyson Cool Air to replace an air conditioner. While the unit is a very effective air purifier, it does not have a compressor and therefore, does not provide the cooling function like an air conditioner unit would. It does not dehumidify and it does not lower the temperature of a room. Dyson's use of the term "Cool Air" simply means it's not heated air (some of their units do heat the air). It does provide a cooling effect, however, but it's the same cooling effect you would feel if a standard room fan were blowing on you. This unit's claim du fame is its air purification capabilities . . . not its room cooling capabilities.

• A:Answer Hello Rhonda, this is Kelly with Dyson. CADR stands for Clean Air Delivery Rate. This is the volume of filtered air delivered by a purifier in a given time frame. This measurement does not represent the quality of the air leaving the unit, only how much. For this reason it is largely irrelevant as a measure. This does not in any way represent a machine's ability to effectively mix the purified air with the ambient air in the room. CADR testing is performed in an empty room, with a ceiling fan simulating air movement - this is not indicative of the live environment our products are used in. We hope this helps. Q: QuestionWe have smoke from a fire in the area, and have the Dyson-TP04 working in our bedroom with the doors and windows closed. After 12 hours of filtering the air, the readout still shows fair levels of PM10 in our air. Why are they still there?

Q: QuestionI am considering buying Dyson TP04 Pure Cool Tower but what holds me back is how does this product work in the winter months with the fan blowing to purify the air? I already own the heat & cool purifier. Why hasn’t Dyson made the “ Tower” Heat & Cool?

• A:Answer The tower purifier has a setting to blow the air up and to the side instead of through the center. I haven’t used it in the summer months, but I assume this is for situations where a fan wouldn’t be necessary. You can also use a very low fan speed setting, which at least for the tower model seems to basically reduce the wind to nothing while still purifying the air (even if this does cause the purification to be less effective/take longer).

• A:Answer Hi Marc, this is Kelly with Dyson. MERV is the rating of the residential filter. MPR is the microparticle performance rating, which measures how well a filter catches particles.
