Hi Marc, this is Kelly with Dyson. MERV is the rating of the residential filter. MPR is the microparticle performance rating, which measures how well a filter catches particles. The filter in the TP04 features activated carbon to remove gases. The sealed HEPA filter captures 99.97% of particle pollution down to PM0.1. Best Wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support
