Hello Laurel, this is Kelly with Dyson. You can expect the following run times with your V15 Detect. On carpeting - with the Motorhead, high mode - 10 minutes, medium mode - 20 minutes, and low mode - 60 minutes. On hard floors - with the Motorhead, high mode - 5 minutes, medium mode - 40 minutes and low mode - 60 minutes. On hard floors - with the Fluffy head, high mode - 12 minutes, medium mode - 30 minutes and low mode - 60 minutes. When you're using any non-motorized attachment, high mode - 5 minutes, medium mode - 30 minutes and low mode - 60 minutes. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support

Please try again later.There are three different settings and personally I like to use the Boost because it picks up everything and that is up to 8 minutes of straight sheer suction power whereas the middle does about 28 minutes and the economical one does about 43 minutes so if you're just doing a carpet for one room then I would highly suggest using boost mode for that one room completely unless you have multiple rooms then I would suggest using the middle setting. The choice is yours but I hope I've answered your question
