Hello Sheep, This is Miella from Dyson. While we always recommend consulting with your rug manufacturer before using the product, the V15 Detect's Motorbar cleanerhead has an manual adjustment lever at the front for thicker surfaces. Hope this helps! Miella Dyson Customer Support
