• Hello Nina, this is Kelly with Dyson. Use of the docking station is optional. The dock itself won't provide power to the machine, without use of the charger in conjunction. The charger can be plugged in directly to the machine. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support

• You do not need the wall station...however, you must use the power cable that attaches to docking station.

• You do not need to use the docking station to charge it in fact the docking station uses the charger cord if you decide to use the docking station

• There is no docking station. Only a plug. Ut you cannot pull the battery out to charge.
