The switch has to be held on the V7.

All of our cordless models, including the Dyson V7 Animal Cord-Free, have a light-touch run-time enhancing trigger. Battery power is only used when the trigger is pushed – it is not wasted when moving from room to room, or moving around obstacles like furniture. Currently, none of our models have the feature to lock the trigger down. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.This Dyson has a trigger that you have to hold to use. It kind of feels like holding a gun, but It is very use to for smaller jobs. I would still recommend a traditional vacuum if you have a larger house.
