Hi Jane, this is Krystal with Dyson. The Dyson cordless charger is compatible with 110-220 voltage systems. However, the machine is built for use in the country in which they are purchased in. Therefore, it will include a US plug. We do not recommend using an adapter. Best Wishes, Krystal Dyson Customer Service

you might need to get an outlet adapter as this uses the American style plug in

No, the vacuum will not operate on that voltage.
