Hello Dee, this is Kelly with Dyson. Our V8 vacuums are great for homes with both carpeting or bare floors. Our V8 cordless offers two powerful suction modes - regular and MAX. MAX provides a boost of suction for larger debris or more stubborn messes. This mode should not be utilized for your everyday cleaning, as it will only give you about 7 minutes of run time.
