Yes but it won't keep temperatures as even throughout the house. The sensors are wireless and it comes with one so why not?

They especially help where you have high temperature swings. But even without the sensors it is a great and accurate thermostat!!

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The Ecobee3 will work without the sensors. The Ecobee3 has one sensor in the thermostat itself so it will just use the thermostat location. If you place sensors it will use an average of the temperatures of the sensors. You can select which sensors it uses for each setting. Without the sensors it will just run from the thermostat only. If you are not using the sensors, at the cost of the Ecobee I would look at a Nest which will learn your habits or select a less expensive internet based thermostat like Honeywell
