No batteries...if the power goes out, though, your settings seem to be saved. As far as your 3-wire combination - there's no guarantee that any of them are a "c" wire -- your setup may not be compatible w/ the thermostat (which they offer a wizard on their website to help guide you through figuring that out) or you may have to install the conversion kit (called PEK) that comes w/ the product.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The thermostat does not need a battery. It does not lose the settings if disconnected from power. The remote sensor has a battery but it is expected to last 5 years. The battery in the remote sensor does not have anything to do with the thermostat. In reference to your question about the wire situation it is never good to guess if one of the wires is a common wire. Unfortunately there are to many variables in units and how they could be wired to know unless you are an HVAC tech.
